La Traviata is one of the most popular opera plays in the world, since Verdi’s time. It was composed after Verdi saw at Paris the theatre play remade after the novel of Alexandre Dumas’ son “The lady with the camellias”. The story of the courtesan who loved up to sacrifice and died of tuberculosis impressed Verdi. Therefore, the story is the one of a great love.

It will be played this Saturday from 6:30 PM at the Bucharest National Opera. The conductor of the play will be Marcello Mottadelli, the director is Paul Curran, the scenographer is Gary McCann, the lighting designer is Paul Hackenmueller.
