Between July 3-9, the 6th edition of Bucharest Jazz Festival takes place with the renowned jazz singer Teodora Enache as artistic director for the second consecutive year. The festival consists of five evenings of live concerts, from July 5 to 9, at George Enescu Square, and related events at ARCUB.
Among the most anticipated moments is the concert of musician Stanley Jordan, four times nominated for Grammy Awards, with two outstanding European jazz artists, drummer Gábor Dörnyei and Kornél Horváth, voted the world’s best percussionist in 2016.
After two years the commissioning platform of Bucharest Jazz Festival focused on supporting Romanian composers of jazz through the composition competition New Jazz Works, the 2017 edition introduces New Jazz Voices, which aims to discover the best voices of the local jazz scene. Unlike previous years, the competition will be held during the festival, and the winner will join the next year’s edition line-up. Another novelty is the introduction in the festival programme of the series of live sessions and jazz improvisations.
