Romania’s unemployment rate dropped to 4.5 pct in June

The unemployment rate in June dropped to 4.5 percent, seasonally adjusted data, from 4.6 percent in the previous month, according to data submitted by the National Institute of Statistics (INS).

In May, the unemployment rate stagnated compared to the previous month, to 4.6% percent seasonally adjusted data.

In June, the number of unemployed declined compared to the previous month.

The number of unemployed (aged 15-74), estimated for June 2018 was 404,000 people, decreasing compared to the previous month ( 413,000 people) and the same month of the previous year (455,000 people), according to INS.

By gender, the male unemployment rate exceeded by 0.9 percentage points that of the women (the respective figures being 4.9 percent for males and 4 percent for females).

For age category 25-74 years old, the unemployment rate was estimated at 3.6 percent for June 2018 and the number of unemployed aged 25-74 represented 74.3 percent of the total number of unemployed estimated for June 2018.
