The national unemployment rate was 3.46 percent in August, down by 0.04 percentage points as compared to the previous month and 0.72 pp below the value of the same period last year.
The total number of unemployed people by the end of August 2018, of 302,589, decreased by 2,780 compared to the one recorded at the end of the previous month. Of the total number of registered unemployed, 55,053 were paid and 247,536 were unpaid by the state.
Compared with the previous month, the male unemployment rate decreased from 3.59 percent in July 2018 to 3.54 percent and the female unemployment rate went down from 3.38 percent in July 2018 to 3, 37 percent.
In terms of their places of residence, 89,202 of the unemployed come from urban areas and 213,387 come from rural areas.
Most of the unemployed individuals were between 40 and 49 years of age (83,852), followed by those in the 30-39 age group (56,011), with the opposite number being between 25-29 years old (18,070).
Regarding the structure of unemployment by level of education, those secondary-level education have the highest share in the total number of unemployed registered in the ANOFM records (33,44 percent). Unemployed individuals without education and those with primary education represent 29.38 percent of the total number, while those with university studies had a share of 5.18 percent.
