Bogdan Alexander Adamescu, the son of millionaire Dan Adamescu, for whom authorities had issued an arrest warrent, was detained in London on Monday evening, according to Agerpres.
In March, the prosecutors of Anticorruption National Office (DNA) had asked the judges at the Bucharest Court to accept the detention request of Adamescu, who was accused of bribery.
According to the DNA, in June and December 2013, Adamescu, together with his father, remitted through intermediaries the amounts of EUR 15,000 and RON 23,000 to two judges from the Court of Bucharest- section VII civil in order for them to provide, in the files regarding the insolvency procedures, favorable solutions to one of the firms where Dan Adamescu was shareholder.
Dan Adamescu got a jail sentence of four years and four months. The decision of judges at Romania’s High Court is final.
Prosecutors said that Adamescu gave bribes worth EUR 20,000 to judges that were handling insolvency cases involving his companies.
