The number of Facebook users in Romania could surpass 5mln this year

Nearly a quarter of Romanians could create a Facebook account by the end of the year, says Alex Visa, managing partner HyperActive.

 Over the last 6 months the number of Facebook accounts has increased twofold in Romania from 1.6 million to approximately 2.9 million users, according to the service SocialBackers.

 “If the current growth rate is continued, the platform could surpass 5 million users by the end of the year, becoming a must-have for any marketing plan of the client, I expect to see more brands present in social media, more creative campaigns,” says Visa.

 The fastest-growing age category is the one between 18 and 34 years of age, irrespective of the sex. The Facebook penetration rate in Romania is 13.19 percent of the population, while in neighboring countries such as Bulgaria or Hungary, where the level is considerably higher, of 27.6 percent, respectively 28.04 percent.

 This can also be observed in the growth of costs for Facebook ads. Currently, the cost per click varies around USD 0.38.
