The market of online payments by card will hike by 50 percent this year

The market of online payments will see a 50 percent growth this year, up to a total of 3.6 million payments. This growth will be triggered by the appearance of discount websites, according to estimations made by Netopia Sistem. The volume of the market last year was in excess of 2.4 million transactions.

This year, Netopia Sistem estimates it will process through the mobilPay service over 1.5 million online transactions by card, which would represent 40 percent of the transactions on the market, while the total volume will amount to more than 3.6 million payments. Of these, about a quarter of the transactions will be made on discount websites.

“At this point, discount websites represent the engine of the market of online payment via card because these platforms post a growth rate of 10 percent in the number of transactions from one month to the next. If in the first four months there were more than 250,000 transactions, by the end of the year I estimate the number of online payments via card on discount websites will surpass 850,000 transactions,” said Antonio Eram, CEO Netopia Sistem.
