The Competition Council has authorized the transaction through which PIF Industrial and Dedeman will take over Cemacon S.A. and Cemacon Real Estate.
PIF Industrial and Dedeman are part of the same group of companies. PIF Industrial’s main activity is business and management consulting, while Dedeman is the largest construction materials retailer in the country.
Cemacon is a manufacturer of bricks, tiles and other fired clay products, and Cemacon Real Estate has as its object the purchase and sale of own real estate.
The Competition Authority analyzed this operation and found that it did not raise significant barriers to effective competition on the Romanian market or on a substantial part of it, in particular by creating or strengthening a dominant position.
Dedeman and Pif Industrial own more than 50 percent of Cemacon, a RON 94 million business last year, acquired in repeated transaction on the stock market.
Dedeman is the only Romanian-owned business to have exceeded a turnover of EUR 1 billion in 2017.
