Finance Minister Eugen Teodorovici said that the compensation paid to farmers with animals affected by African swine fever will be at a minimum of 100 kg/animal, and that exceeds this weight.

”Compensation for swine fever could be done at a minimum of 100 kg/animal. First of all, people have to be compensated, and secondly, they have to be supported when this plague passes, to repopulate their flocks, but it really has been a question of compensation at a minimum to say weight on the slaughtered animal, and here the Ministry of Agriculture indicated that we should make a proposal for a normative act, with which we will enter the next week in the Government to establish this new mechanism. For example, anything less than 100 kg, let’s say, to receive the 100 kilograms compensation, that’s the proposal that will probably be next week on the government’s table, ”Minister Eugen Teodorovici said on Tuesday.

According to Teodorovici, after the outbreaks of African swine fever will be kept under control, farmers will be supported for the repopulation of farms.

”Having such problems in the outbreaks, you can not repopulate, but categorically, when they have the power to say so, then they will rely on the repopulation in the areas where the animals were sacrificed, ” Teodorovici stated.

The calculations are made at the Ministry of Agriculture, ANSVSA, and the Finance Minister have submitted a proposal to ANSVSA of RON 50 million extra, and there was an agreement between institutions for another RON 40 million to ANSVSA.

”This are are, on the basis of this calculation, these are the amounts, but as the analyzes are carried out, the calculations may change, we will provide from the budget the necessary money for the people to be compensated, ”says the minister .

A few days ago, PSD chairman Liviu Dragnea announced that ministers must come up with new measures regarding the effects of swine fever, so that farmers are properly compensated, and employees left without jobs have solutions.

Agriculture Minister Petre Daea announced last week that 1,603 files for African swine fever were filed and 82 files were already paid.
