Transports minister Radu Berceanu said yesterday that the Cernavoda-Constanta highway in southeastern Romania will be finalized by the end of 2011, according to Mediafax. He added that the works are “a little” behind schedule, partly due to the fact that the discovery of several archeological sites along the initial route led to a five kilometers detour.
Berceanu announced that he plans to make more checkups at the construction site in order to step up works. Although the highway is expected to be finalized by the end of 2011, the minister said that drivers might be able to use one lane as of June 2011.
