Supplier of steel tubes and services for the energy industry Tenaris has purchased from Cameron International the plant, equipment and other assets related to Cameron’s sucker rod business located in Campina, Romania. The value of the transaction was not made public.

The Campina rods mill has a production capacity of 500,000 units/year and a workforce of around 60 people. The facility will continue its operation and all its employees will now join Tenaris.

Before the acquisition, Tenaris already owned a pipe manufacturing center located in Zalau, a steel mill in Calarasi and a service center in Ploiesti.

With sucker rods manufacturing centers located in Villa Mercedes (Argentina), Pindamonhangaba (Brazil) and Veracruz (Mexico), this acquisition will increase Tenaris’ current rods production capacity by approximately 20 percent.

“Through the new facility in Campina, Tenaris will be ready to meet the growing demand of our customers in Europe and the Middle East. With sucker rods manufacturing centers in four regions, Tenaris wil be able to comply with customers’ demands with more flexibility from our facilities in North America, Central America, South America and, now, also from Europe,” according to Alejandro Levrino, Tenaris Sucker Rods Division Director.
