Telenews available to Orange clients

Telenews, an online news platform that can be accessed from the site Telenews.ro and from mobile phones in the Orange network, was launched last week following a joint effort from journalist Nicolas Don, Orange Romania and Apa Nova. Don, who has worked for French TV channels France3 and France 5, started working on the project in 2008.

The news bulletin will be broadcast from Monday to Friday in both Romanian and French and will last for five minutes. In the Orange network, Telenews programs can be watched free of charge and customers only pay depending upon their tariff.

The project involves ten journalists, including Laura Chiriac, Adelin Petrisor, Cosmin Prelipceanu and Luca Niculescu. By summer, a version of the news in English will also be launched.

Orange has currently 10,995,000 customers and posted revenues of EUR 1.055 billion for 2009.
