Telecom operators in Romania need to include in the contracts signed with the end users a set of quality indicators regarding the internet services, a measure which must be applied before January 20, 2012, according to the president of the National Authority for Administration and Regulation in Communications (ANCOM), Catalin Marinescu (in picture), quoted by Mediafax newswire.

“Also, by January 1, 2012, suppliers have the obligation to publish on their web page a procedure regarding the measurement of the quality parameters. (…)  In order to verify that these obligations are fulfilled, ANCOM will lead an ample campaign of monitoring in the second and third quarters of the year,” said Marinescu.

An important point in the ANCOM’s plan of action for 2012 is the bill regarding the infrastructure of communication networks which is currently at the Deputies’ Chamber for approval.

The bill should be adopted in at most 2 months, according to Minister of Communications, Valerian Vreme.

In 2012, a contract will be signed regarding financing from European funds for the internet broadband network to be deployed in areas uncovered by operators. The contract has a value of EUR 84 million over a 24 months period.

The EUR 84 million financing was obtained by Romania after it adopted in 2009 the National Broadband Strategy that has as main goal that the entire Romanian population will have access to broadband internet services by 2013.
