Air carrier Tarom announced the launch of a new route for the summer, from Bucharest to Alicante, Spain.

Flights will take place twice a week and will be active until September 27, with prices starting from EUR 149 for a two-way ticket.

Alicante is the fourth destination operated by Tarom in Spain, after Madrid, Barcelona and Valencia. The new destination in the airline’s portfolio is one of the most modern and most beautiful cities on the coast of Spain. Called Alacant in Catalan, with an average of 300 sunny days per year, Alicante is a former fishermen’s village which has turned into a booming city, both in terms of tourism and business,” said general manager of Tarom, Gabriel Stoe.

Tarom is a state owned air company, under the governance of Romania’s Ministry of Transportation. The company was among the first SOEs in Romania to benefit from corporate governance, though it didn’t pan out so well. Tarom has gone through different sets of management teams, with the latest members to be changed being Edouard Heinzmann, the general director of Tarom, and Tiberiu Ticlea, the company’s administrative director. They were replaced by Gabriel Stoe and Florin Susanu.
