A survey by market research firm Alpha reveled that four out of five Facebook users wouldn’t pay USD 1 a month to remove ads on the social network.
The research was based on answers from 1,163 Facebook users. Most of the respondents said they would abandon Facebook if it started to charge USD 1 per month for features such as private messaging or for registering for groups.
Asked how concerned they are about their privacy on social media, 26 percent gave a “5,” or “extremely concerned,” rating, with another 28 percent giving their concern a “4” and 31 percent choosing a “3” rating.
According to media reports, Facebook is testing a paid, ad-free version.
