State wants to create a Media Digital Library

The Ministry of Communications announced it will create The Media Digital Library, which will comprise all the Romanian mass-media collections- whether they are newspapers, magazines and periodical supplements of any type- in virtual format.

The project of the digital press was considered essential both for the Romanians and the mass-media and this is in line with the European strategy to create the European Digital Library.

“As days go by, we are approaching more and more a digital Romania in which access to information will be easier. A Digital Library in which we can peruse through the history of the Romanian press or we can read any article can only make me glad, because we have made one more step towards a virtual country based on knowledge,” said Valerian Vreme, the minister of communications.
