Simona Halep tops Siniakova to claim Shenzhen Open title

Romanian tennis player Simona Halep, the WTA’s NO 1 and the main seed of the Shenzhen Open, has claimed the title after a three sets victory against Czech Republic’s Katerina Siniakova.

Halep defeated Siniakova, who previously eliminated Maria Sharapova,  6-1, 2-6, 6-0.

This is Halep’s first title of the year and the first she claims since becoming world number one. She will be the first seed in the Australian Open tournament, the first Grand Slam of the year, held January 15-28.
