Romanian tennis player Simona Halep will skip the World Group II first round tie February 10 and 11 at Sala Polivalenta Cluj-Napoca. She will be replaced by Ana Bogdan, world No. 86, who will leave for Cluj on Tuesday.
According to sources, the Romanian Tennis Federation will officially announce Halep’s absence on Wednesday.
“I will train, enter normal schedule, but I still don’t know if I will be able to play. It is a decision we will take together with the other players and the rest of the staff. Physically I feel good, I am alright, at first sight. Still, I feel I still need rest,” Halep said two days ago.
Sorana Cirstea, World No. 36, Irina Begu World No. 37 and Raluca Olaru, World No. 45 will compete between February 10-11 against Canada. The Canadian team includes Carol Zhao, Bianca Andreescu, Katherine Sebov, and Gabriela Dabrowski.
