Schoenherr law firm has put together a guide designed to inform businesses on their liability risk as well as that of their managers when it comes to white-collar crime. The White Collar Crime Primer tackles issues related to the business crime labyrinth in the total 18 jurisdictions of the law firm.

For Romania, the guide outlines definitions of bribery in the public and private sectors, passive bribery, the criminal liability of corporations, or the existing fines for corporations for bribery related offences. In the case of Romania, the maximum fine a corporation can receive for bribery related offences is approximately EUR 210,000 (RON 9000,000).

Last year Schoenherr established a team of Compliance and White Collar Crime specialists covering the entire Central and Eastern Europe. The White Collar Crime Primer builds on the team’s extensive experience and presents a comprehensive guide to the most important issues and challenges in connection with bribery.

The primer covers Austria, Albania, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Hungary, Kosovo, Macedonia, Moldova, Montenegro, Poland, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Ukraine as well as Turkey. In addition, a separate section in the Primer is dedicated to the highly topical and currently often discussed US-Foreign Corrupt Practices Act and its British counterpart, the UK Bribery Act

The White Collar Crime Primer combines the international competence of 26 attorneys and partners at Schoenherr. Each country contribution answers a number of relevant legal concerns which arise daily in the area of anti-corruption and compliance and offers a comprehensive summary of the relevant topics for each country.
