Samsung may decide to transfer to Romania its production by shutting down two plants in Slovakia if it does not receive new subsidies from the Slovak state, according to the Austrian publication Wirtschaftsblatt.

The company is asking for subsidies of EUR 28 million in order to keep 950 workplaces in Slovakia, according to the Ministry of Economy in Slovakia, says wall-street.ro

The Austrian publication is actually quoting a Slovak TV channel, Markiza, which stated that Samsung is considering shutting down the two plants which provide workplaces to 4,000 employees, and transfer production to Romania.

The South-Korean group has been on the Slovak market since 2002 and owns two plants, in Voderady and Galanta.
