International commercial law firm Salans has advised CHS Inc. (Nasdaq: CHSCP), an American grains, foods and energy company, in aquiring Agri Point Limited from East Point Holdings Limited, Nicosia, Cyprus. In Romania Agri Point Limited operates the Silotrans grain storage business in the Port of Constanta.
CHS repesentatives said that the Agri Point acquisition is part of the company’s ongoing global grain origination expansion, adding approximately 1.5-to-2 million metric tons of corn, wheat and barley.
“Acquiring Agri Point enables CHS to further develop its global competency and presence into the high growth areas of Romania, Bulgaria, Hungary and Serbia,” sayd Claudio Scarrozza, general manager, CHS Europe, Geneva, Switzerland.
“In addition, we’re adding important infrastructure to our global supply chain capabilities with a deep-water port in Constanta, Romania, a barge loading facility on the Danube River at Giurgiu, Romania, and an inland grain terminal at Oroshaza, Hungary,” he added
Salans’ offices in Bucharest, Budapest and New York all supported CHS in this transaction. The Romania team was led by Managing Counsel Bogdan Bunrau, and included associates Anamaria Corbescu, Raluca Voinescu, Raluca Radu and Catalin Vlasceanu. Partner Markian Silecky of Salans’ New York and Kyiv offices supervised Salans’ work on the deal.
