Representatives of the Ministry of Regional Development, Public Administration and European Funds have signed a financing contract for the upgrade project for a secondary road in Constanta County, worth over RON 155 million. The project is financed through the Regional Operational Programme (POR) 2014-2020.

The minister of European funds, Marius Nica, said: “Citizens in Constanta County will have modern and safe roads which will ensure a better quality of transport, better mobility and therefore increased access to better jobs, in the near future”.

The project will be implemented over the next five years and it involves the upgrade of county road DJ 223, specifically the segment between Cernavoda – Rasova – Aliman – Ion Corvin (39 km), the construction of sidewalks and bike lanes, as well as the placement or upgrade of bus stops.

Those who will benefit from this project include the approximately 28,000 people living in the towns and villages next to the road, as well as the contracting firm’s employees – around 250 jobs will be created according to documents – who will have the chance of financial stability and professional performance.

Others who will benefit include the economic agents in the area, local administrations and potential investors in the western part of Constanta County and the Danube area, land owners and vehicle drivers.
