Romtelecom officially launched the first Dolce Sport channel and announced this will be followed by other launches. “The official launch of its first thematic channel, Dolce Sport, which represents a new phase in the evolution of television services offered by Romtelecom, will be followed in the near future by the introduction of new thematic music and film TV channels under the Dolce brand which will consolidate our position as entertainment supplier so that we will make a difference on the market. Over the next period we will deliver a double quantity of sports through our second dedicated channel, Dolce Sport 2,” said Ovidiu Ghiman, Executive Manager for Strategy and Business Development.

Starting this week, Dolce Sport 1 and 2 will broadcast live games from the Champions League.

Although Romtelecom representatives deny it, sources in the market told Business Review that Romtelecom took over the Boom Sport channel of DTH Television Group (which runs Boom TV). According to the same sources, Romtelecom already brought new employees to supplement the team that already worked for the Boom Sport channel.

At the moment, the Dolce Sport team counts 80 people.

Dolce Sport is available on the Dolce platforms (DTH and IPTV), NextGen and Boom, airing in over 1.2 million homes in Romania.
