Romania’s uptake rate of EU funds up to 69 pct in May 2016

Romania’s uptake rate of EU funds under the financial framework 2007-2013 has gone up by almost 3 percent in May, according to the Ministry of European Funds.

A rate of 69.2 percent translates into a total value of expenditure declarations submitted to the European Commission (EC) amounting to EUR 13.1 billion at the end of May. Reimbursements also rose by 1.26 percentage points to 65.05 percent (EUR 12.3 billion).

The largest advance over the previous month, of 8.75 percent, was registered by the Regional Operational Programme (standing at 73.5 percent in May), followed by the Operational Programme Development of Administrative Capacity (up 4.64 percentage points to 98.01 percent) and the Environment Sectoral Operational Programme (up 3.73 percent to 74.85 percent).

The Transport Sectoral Operational Programme (64.62 percent, up 0.85 pp) and the Human Resources Development Sectoral Operational Programme (54.87 percent, up 0.36 pp) only saw slight advances, while the Increase in Economic Competitiveness Sectoral Operational Programme (75.75 percent) and the Technical Assistance Sectoral Operational Programme (97.71 percent) stayed at the same level of April.

March 31, 2017, is the deadline for application of the final balance and of the final declaration of expenditures to the EC.
