Romania’s population growth at a negative rate of 8,308 persons in February 2017

Romania’s population growth rate reached a negative level of 8,308 persons in February 2017, compared with February 2016, according to the data of the National Institute of Statistics (INS) from Monday.  

According to the statistics, the number of newborns was lower by 603 in February 2017 compared with February 2016 and the deaths number was higher by 782 than in February 2016. The population growth reached a negative rate in February 2017 as well as in February 2016.

The number of children under one year who died was lower by one in February 2017 versus February 2016.

Also the number of marriages fell by 136 versus than the same month of 2016.

According to INS, in February 2017 there were 13,016 newborns recorded.

The number of persons who died in February was 22,709, by 6,091 lower than January.

The population growth was negative in February 2017.
