Romania’s inflation rate reaches 1.8 percent in September, says INS

The annual inflation expanded to 1.8 percent in September compared to the 1.2 percent rate in August, according to the National Institute of Statistics (INS).

“Compared to September 2016, the consumption prices increased by 1.8 percent in September 2017(…) Calculated by the IAPC base, the medium rate is 0.5 percent,” stated INS.

The food commodities prices increased by 0.54 percent, the non-food commodities increased by a similar percent, while the services prices grow with 0.32 percent.

At the beginning of August, the National Bank of Romania (BNR) revised that inflation rate forecast to 1.9 percent at the end of 2017. The Central Bank previously estimated that the inflation rate will drop by 0.1 percentage points to 1.6 percent.

For the end of 2018, BNR estimated an inflation rate of 3.2 percent compared to the previous estimate 3.1 percent.
