Romania’s absorption of EU funds creeps closer to 12 pct in February

The current absorption of EU funds was up slightly by less than 1 percentage point to 11.81 percent as of February 2, with expenditure statements worth EUR 3.64 billion submitted to the European Commission, the executive arm of the European Union.

Meanwhile, the effective absorption of EU funds, meaning money paid by the EC, climbed 0.06 percentage points to 10.07 percent, according to the Ministry of EU funds. The data shows that Romania got EUR 3.1 billion in funding from the EC.

On the European Structural and Investment Funds (FESI), the biggest absorption rate is for the SMEs operational program (93.09 percent), followed by the Rural Development Program (29.5 percent) and the Operational Program Technical Assistance (23.28 percent).

On the Human Capital operational program, the absorption rate is the weakest (0.09 percent), while the Regional operational program and the Administrative Capacity program had rates of 0.41 percent and 4.29 percent, respectively.

On the European Fund for Agriculture Guarantees (2015-2020), the absorption rate stands at 38.99 percent.
