The United States, Great Britain, Germany and Asia are the markets that are the most popular among Romanians who make online acquisitions via PayPal, according to a price analysis made by the company.

The differences between prices practiced in Romania and other markets can go from several percentage points up to 50 percent, but even after having to pay taxes, the prices on external markets continue to be very attractive.

In 2010, most products and services purchased by Romanians via PayPal came from the United States (31 percent), followed by Great Britain (15 percent), and Germany (14 percent). Markets in Asia attracted 19 percent of the total sums spent by Romanians via Paypal in 2010.

Thus, the best prices for acquisitions continue to be in the online stores in the United States and Asian markets, especially when it comes to acquiring new gadgets and technologies

As an example, the price for an iPad 2 (16 GB) in the United States start from EUR 507 (RON 1,651) while in Romania the tablet costs around EUR 614 (RON 2,000).

In the case of iPhone 4S 32 GB, the price in Romania is 30 percent higher than in the USA and on average 20 percent higher than in Germany or Great Britain.

Also, Samsung Galaxy Tab is also cheaper in the United States where it sells for 20 percent less than in Romania.

In the case of electronic products, an alternative to buying an expensive product would be to look for a ‘no name’ product that, even if it was not made by a well-known brand, it has similar features.

Companies in Asia such as Dealextreme or FocalPrice offer such products, such as tablets that can be acquired for RON 224 or digital cameras that are 40 percent cheaper than brand products.
