Romanians, early birds in using their mobile phones

Romanians are the most eager to check their mobile phone in the morning, according to a study entitled Mobile Etiquette Data Report ordered by Intel and carried out by Redshift Research in the EMEA region (Europe, Middle East and Africa).

The study reveals that 80 percent of Romanians check their mobile phone in the morning, before going to work. By comparison, the European average is 67 percent.

What’s more, 45 percent of them check their mobile phone while they are still in bed, 26 of them while they have breakfast, 8 percent of them check their handset before taking a shower, 5 percent use it on their way to work. Only 15 percent use the mobile technology only when they get to work.

33 percent of Romanians said they would rather give up sweets than live without their handset for a week, 23 percent of them would give up coffee, and 19 percent their vacation days. As many as 21 percent said they would give up their partner rather than experiment a week without their mobile phone.

Many Romanians, 38 percent of them, check their social media status online at least once a day while 29 percent of them check it once a week of less frequently. More than 25 percent check their social media status more than 3-4 times a day while 7 percent check it more than once an hour.

This is lower than the European average which is 69 percent. Of that, 28 percent check more than 3-4 times a day, and 7 percent check more than once an hour.

Among the habits concerning the use of the mobile phone in public spaces, having to hear other people’s conversations in vehicles and stores is the most annoying- 68 percent of Romanians are disturbed by this aspect. Closely after this are the annoying or loud ringtones- 61 percent of Romanians are annoyed by them. On the third place, 60 percent of Romanians placed writing while driving. These figures are close to the European average.
