Life expectancy among Romania’s young people is 74 years, according to Eurostat data, meaning that Romania is last in the EU for this indicator.
The countries with the highest life expectancies in the EU are Spain, Italy, France, Switzerland and the UK, where young people today are expected to live to 85 years old.
The lowest life expectancy rates in Romania are recorded in the North-East region of the countries – in counties like Suceava, Botosani or Iasi – with a life expectancy of 74 years. Those living in the South-East area of Romania (Buzau, Constanta or Tulcea counties) have a 75.5-year life expectancy.
The regions with the longest life expectancies are Comunidad de Madrid in Spain, with 85.2 years, the autonomous Trento region in Italy, with 84.3 years and Ile-de-France, with 84.2 years.
