Romanian turnover volume from retail grew by 18.4 pct in the first five months of 2016, says INS

The turnover volume from retail grew by 18.4 pct gross series in the first five months of and by 16.8 on adjusted series, compared with the similar period of 2015, because of the sales growth in food, beverages and tobacco, but also in non-food products and fuels, according to the data from National Institute of Statistics (INS).

„On adjusted series, the turnover from retail registered in the mentioned period a growth of 16.8 percent, because of the sales growth in food products, beverages and tobacco (+ 25.8 percent), in non-food products (+ 14.8 percent) and of the retail of fuels for cars in special stores (9.1 percent), ” says INS.

On the other hand, in May 2016, compared with April, the turnover volume from retail (except retail in cars and motors)  dropped in gross series by 4.7 percent and in adjusted series according to the number of working days and season by 1.6 percent.

Compared with 2015, the turnover volume for retail, gross series registered a growth of 15.8 percent as a result of the growths registered in food, beverages and tobacco sales (+20 percent), sales in non-food products (+14.5 percent) and retail in fuels for cars in special stores (+12.1 percent).

The turnover volume from retail (except retail in cars and motors)  in adjusted series according to the number of working days and season, increased by 15.2 percent in May 2016 compared with 2015, because of the growth in sales for food, beverages and tobacco (24.3 percent), sales in non-food products (12.4 percent) and retail in fuels for cars.
