Top management salaries in Romania are ten times higher than those of workers and administrative clerks, although companies have been trying to diminish this pay gap, according to a recent study by Hay Group. Romania is one of the countries with the difference pay gap between those positions. “For the second year in a row, Romania is among the first ten countries in the world and ranking first in Europe in terms of the top management purchasing power, but also in terms of the pay gap,” according to Alina Popescu, reward manager with Hay Group. The result of the study is mainly explained by the 16 percent flat tax, which is much lower than in Western European countries, and also by the lower cost of living in Romania, compared to Central Europe.
