Romanian telecom market sticks to EUR 3.8mln, the same value as 2010

The telecom market in Romania is estimated to post roughly the same value this year, as the last. Thus, the market will stabilize at approximately EUR 3.8 billion, according to a forecast made by A.T. Kearney.

 The market will come back on growth only next year when the revenues from telecom services will increase by 2.4 percent up to EUR 4.9 billion, according to data from the report.

 The average budget for communication services in a Romanian household is approximately EUR 16.4, which represents 5 percent of the total sum allotted monthly for overall consumption expenses. 

 In the first quarter of the year, the monthly budget that a household in Romania allotted for consumption expenses was EUR 352. Of this sum, the monthly expenses are approximately equal to health expenses. Most of the Romanians’ budget, respectively 40 percent, goes on food and drinks.   

 The budget allotted by Romanians for communication services increased from 62 RON/month in the first quarter of 2008 to approximately EUR 14.5 in the first quarter of this year.
