Romanian retired persons number down by 46,000 in Q3 to 5.25 mln and the average pension up by 6.5 pct

The retired persons number went down by 46,000 in the third quarter to 5.25 million and the average pension increased by 6.5 percent to RON 951, according to the data of the National Institute of Statistics (INS).

The ratio between the retired persons and the employed persons is 9 to 10, meaning that 10 active employees support nine retired, but this ratio varies from one county to another.

While in Bucharest there are five retired to ten employees, in Teleorman the ratio is 17 retired to 10 employees. In Giurgiu it is the lowest pension, of RON 748, a difference of over RON 400 compared with the maximum pension received in Bucharest, which is RON 1,181.

At national level, the average monthly average was RON 951, higher by 0.8 percent compared with the previous quarter, and the average pension of social insurances was RON 931, at the same level with the second quarter.

The ratio between the average nominal pension of social insurances for age limit as completion stage and the net average income was 53.3 percent compared with 53.7 percent in the previous quarter.
