TVR will be launching its own TV content division on the web which will be called TVR Plus by the end of the month, according to Alexandru Lazescu, president and GM of the public television.
The content will be available free of charge “due to the fact that this is a public television,” said Lazescu.
In the first stage, the content aired on the internet will be mainly produced by TVR, but later the public television will also include content from other providers.
“From this point of view we are the most important producers of TV content in Romania. We are trying to make this content available online and there will be several development stages to do that,” said Lazescu.
At the moment, there are negotiations with other content providers in order to include other content as well.
“We can distribute without problems what we do, but what others produce in terms of content is subject to negotiation, and this is what we are doing now,” said Lazescu.
The project is running a little late, said the TVR official, because the television needed an infrastructure partner which was selected following a bidding (he did not wish to disclose the value of the bidding). The partner that ensures the infrastructure for TVR is called Media Direct.
