Romanian police fines five US marines for dine and dash after violent incident

Five US marines from the Deveselu military base were detained by police and fined after a violent incident that took place in Craiova. The five, part of a group of seven, had partied in a nightclub in the city, and, according to the club, left without paying their bill.

After the seven US marines left the establishment, they were followed by the club’s bodyguards, and the two parties got into an argument. A local police patrol that was at the time surveilling the area saw the group and intervened.

According to broadcaster Digi24, the marines were violent, that is why they were handcuffed and brought to the police station for hearings. Five of the seven US marines were fined.

The incident was confirmed by representatives of the US marine and is currently subject to an internal investigation. Out of the five marines, three are officers.
