Romanian online retailer eMAG posted a turnover of EUR 62 million at the end of the first half of this year, up by 52 percent on the same period in 2010.
The company estimates a turnover of EUR 150 million for the entire year, which will represents 50 percent growth on the previous year, announced company officials.
“Ever since the beginning of the year, we had a high-growth target, as we estimate online commerce has reached over 20 percent of the electro-IT market in 2011,” said Iulian Stanciu, general manager of eMag.
He explained that the growth posted by eMag was a result of the “diversification in the portfolio and the launch of the Marketplace platform.”
The market of IT e-commerce increased by 50 percent in the first half of the year, according to estimations from eMag officials.
According to eMag estimations, the e-commerce electro-IT market in Romania soared by 50 percent. The online market in Romania is the most advanced in the region, being even more developed than in some countries in Western Europe.
Traffic registered on the eMag website surged to more than 1.8 million unique visitors, which is almost double compared to the same period in 2010.
