With construction starting in 2014, Segments 3 and 4 of Sebes-Turda highway should be opened today, after a two year delay. Practically, in more than 48 months since the contract was signed, around 550 meters were built every month.

If this pace of 550 meters monthly is kept for the construction for a highway like Pitesti-Sibiu that is 122 kilometers in length, the time needed for construction would be around 18 years.

And these were the first highway segments completed in the last 18 months.

Today, officials at the National Company for Road Infrastructure Administration (CNAIR) and the representatives of the State Construction Inspectorate checked the two highway segments and “will probably accept the works,” said Narcis Neaga, general manager of CNAIR.

According to the representatives of the construction companies, Tirrena Scavi – Societa Italiana per Condotte D’acqua for Segment 3 and Porr Construct for Segment 4, the two segments of the Sebes-Turda highway are ready for reception.

The construction was repeatedly delayed, the initial date of delivery being March 2016. The last repair was made last week on Segment 3 after a portion was mowed due to nonconformities.

In March this year, Segment 4 cracked and required “minor” interventions, constructor Porr said, and the reception was delayed from April, to May, to June, and now to the end of July.

Both segments were received by the Road Company and the circulation will be open around 8:30 pm on Monday.

The 29 km segment of the highway is located between Aiud and Turda, where it intersects with the Transylvania highway. The investment for Segment 3 RON 420 million, and for Segment 4 the value of the construction is around RON 470 million.
