Romanian-German economic relations continued to grow in 2016, backed by legal stability, the Romanian-German Chamber of Commerce and Industry said in a press release.
Trade between the two countries increased to over EUR 24 billion in the first eleven months of 2016, up by 13 percent, to make up 20 percent of Romania’s total foreign trade. According to the institution, around 8,000 German companies with German capital that are active in Romania, whose economy is a partner of strategic importance. They contributed decisively to job creation and job security. According to the Romanian–German Chamber of Commerce, German companies have more than 250,000 employees in Romania.
Currently, direct German investments to Romania stand at EUR 8 billion.
Legal stability, predictability of economic and political decisions and stable economic framework conditions for German companies are important criteria for investments. Besides, the press release states, German companies welcome the anti-corruption fight and want it to continue. It is not only German companies that need legal stability and a stable business environment to continue to invest in Romania and to create new jobs, the press release stated.
