The volume of online electronic payments in the first three quarters of the year registered a volume of EUR 121.4 million, which represents a growth of 11 percent on the same period of last year, according to Romcard.
Estimations are that by the end of the year, the e-commerce market will exceed EUR 160 million.
A positive trend is the growing variety of the electronic purchases being made by clients. Thus, the segment of online stores that sell flowers, books and gifts have grown by 75 percent, 76 percent and 64 percent respectively. Other categories of products have also posted significant growth such as toys (56 percent), or textiles (24 percent).
The average ‘shopping cart’ value is EUR 69.
“Romcard’s priority will be to continue to improve processing services and the promotion of the 3D Secure standard and encourage buyers to activate their cards so that we can all benefit from a completely secured payment environment,” according to Marin Mitroi, GM of Romcard.
