Romanian average net income reached a record level of RON 2,354 in December 2016

The Romanian average net income reached a record level of  RON 2,354 in December 2016, with an increase of 8.4 percent compared with November and the annual growth rate slowed down to 13.2 percent, according to the data published on the National Institute of Statistics (INS).

The average gross income reached in December was RON 3,257 (EUR 721).

The previous average net income-record in Romania was registered in November, RON 2,172.

The salaries increases was stimulated by Governmental measures, considering that since May 1, the minimum gross salary was increased by 19 percent from RON 1,050 up to RON 1,250.

The official statistics shows that in real terms, considering the negative inflation in December, the incomes were higher in December by 12 percent compared with December 2015.

„The highest values of average nominal net income was registered in coal carbonization products manufacturing and of products obtained by  crude oil manufacturing (RON 6,120) and the lowest values in hotels and restaurants (RON 1,332),” shows an INS release.

According to INS, besides the coal carbonization products and crude oil manufacturing, the average net income in Romania exceeded EUR 1,000 in December in IT sector and crude oil and natural gas extraction, activities in services connected to oil and gas, financial intermediations and insurances and pension funds.

The salaries increases accelerated starting with the last month of 2015 after the approval of consistent salary increases in the public system.
