Timis county authorities will develop this year a cycling track along the Bega river, downstream to the city of Timisoara, following the route: Sofocle Embankment – Freidorf Industrial Park – Utvin – Uivar – Otelec (the last location in Romania), Agerpres newsire reports. The lane will continue in Serbia, until Zrenjanin locality. The move is aimed at supporting the cross-border tourism potential of the region.

The cycling track, worth EUR 2.35 million, will be 40 kilometers long and two meters wide. It will allow traffic on both directions of the river dam. The project will be financed using EU funding, and funds from the Zrenjanin Town Hall, the Ministry of Regional Development and Tourism and the Timis County Council.
