Enterprise Investors, BCR bank and Triple Helix Association announced today, in a press conference, the launch of a new project promoting entrepreneurship called  “Champions in business 2011”. The project is aiming to discover the most dynamic Romanian entrepreneurs. The partners will select, award and promote the Romanian companies with the most significant financial performances in the last years.

Companies eligible to enter the competition have a net turnover in 2010 of at least RON 20 million, employed at least 10 people and reported a profit. This year, in the 5th edition of the project,  3500 Romanian companies have achieved the conditionality for the contest. These companies have a combined turnover of RON 387 billion, with a gross profit of RON 27.6 billion, and employ approximately 1 million people.

In 2010, Terox, a textile manufacturer of accessories for children car seats, based in Pascani city, was awarded the grand prize. The company managed by Doina Cepalis increased its turnover from EUR 250.000 in 2007 to EUR 22 million in 2011. Cepalis is planning to sell its products in 52 countries and double its turnover. Also, Cepalis will invest EUR 7.2 million in Iasi, in a factory for plastic materials.
