Romania lost over 10,000 doctors over the past 5 years

Over 10,000 doctors left Romania between 2007 and 2012 as a result of migration and the fact that employments were frozen in the system, according to Vasile Astarastoae, president of the Physicians’ College in Romania.

 The deficit in many hospital units is becoming serious. In Romania, there are in total 56,000 doctors, of whom 13,000 are residents, 2,000 are retired.
