Romania is the destination chosen by Moldovans celebrating the New Year’s Eve on Julian calendar, especially because it’s close to Moldova and already known, said the representatives of the Association for Prahova Tourism Promotion and Development.

“The Moldovan tourists consider that we offer qualitative services at a very good price. They prefer Romania because they have the possibility to come by their own vehicles. The budget for the New Year’s Eve on Julian calendar start from EUR 300-350, maximum EUR 500-600/family ( 2 adults + 1/2 children). The trend for this year is the balneary tourism. Besides Valea Prahovei and Poiana Brasov, that stay in top of the destinations chosen by Moldovans, the news is that there were demands for Baile Felix, Sovata, Slanic Moldova and Calimanesti – Caciulata”, said Oana Constantinescu, secretary of the Association for Prahova Tourism Promotion and Development.

Approximately 300-350 persons celebrate the New Year’s Eve on Julian calendar in Sinaia. The number has been constant for several years, according to the representatives of the Association. Most of the tourists who come through tourism agencies prefer the hotels of maximum 3 stars. In comparison, those who don’t come through a tourism agency prefer 4 and 5 star hotels.

“In Sinaia this year are very few ski runners. Tourists prefer the sleds and visiting museums. In Busteni around 200 have accommodation and come on the ski path because the ski installation functions even when it’s a driving wind. Tourists come even from other localities. In Azuga are accommodated around 100 persons, but many of them are Moldovan tourists who stay at different guesthouses,” says Constantinescu.

New Year’s Eve on Julian calendar is celebrated on January 13 night.
