The European Volleyball Confederation has accepted Romania’s bid to host the European Volleyball Championship in Cluj Napoca in 2021. The announcement was made by the president of the Romanian Volleyball Federation, Gheorghe Visan.
“Today we received the official paper from the European Volleyball Confederation in which we are told that our bid for hosting the women’s 2021 European Championship was accepted. Also today we submitted to the Ministry of Youth and Sports CEV’s answer and an official request to organise the European Championships,” Visan said.
“We are now waiting to receive an answer as quick as possible from the MTS, so that the document showing that the minister is accepting the conditions must be returned to te EVC. The conditions that must be met are acceptable for Romania, that’s something normal. We must move fast, because at the General Aseembly of the EVC in autumn we must present a video with Cluj-Napoca, as well as the room and the hotels where the delegations of the six countries will be hosted,” Visan said.
EVC president Aleksandar Boricic visited Bucharest last week where he met the representatives of the Ministry of Youth and Sport, of the Romanian Olympic Committee and of the Romanian Volley Federation.
The European Women’s Volley Championship 2021 is to be held n Romania, Serbia, Croatia and Bulgaria. Romania organised the same event in 1963.
