The Romanian National Meteorological Administration today issued a red code warning for heat in 12 counties. In addition, for the rest of the country, an orange code was issued.
The red code warning is valid on Fridays and Saturday. Accordingly, the heat wave that started on Monday (July 31st) will continue to intensify, and the thermal discomfort will become particularly acute.
The Temperature-Moisture Index (ITU) will exceed the critical area by 80 units and will frequently be located in low-rise areas between 82 and 84 units. Minimum temperatures will generally range from 22 to 25 degrees.
In the plains and plateaus of the counties: Satu Mare, Bihor, Arad, Timis, Caras-Severin, Salaj, Cluj, Mureş, Alba, Hunedoara, Mehedinti and Dolj, the extreme temperatures will near the absolute records of the period and will be between 39 and 42 degrees.
Tomorrow and the day after tomorrow, in the rest of the country, the code orange will be maintained. In Moldova, Dobrogea, Muntenia and localities in Maramures, Transylvania and Oltenia, the maximum temperatures will generally be between 36 and 39 degrees, much higher than the averages for the period.
