Romania gas imports up by 614 pct in the first 11 months of 2016

Romania imported a gas quantity of 876,100 of oil equivalent (tep) in the first 11 months of 2016, by 614.6 percent (753,500 tep) higher than the imported quantity in 2015, according to the data of the National Institute of Statistics (INS).

Internal production of natural gas amounted to 6,768 million tep during January-November 2016, which us 1,060 million tep (13.5 percent) under the one from the first 11 months of the previous year.

According to the Energy Strategy of Romania project, the annual production of natural gas is expected to drop slightly up to an average of 9-10 bcm for the period 2016-2030.

The document says that the natural gas production will drop after it will reach a new peak of 132 TWh in 2025, as a result of the Black Sea production, to 96 TWh in 2030 and 65 TWh in 2050.
