Romania exported beverages and tobacco of over EUR 557 million in the first two months of the year, which is EUR 162.1 million under the level of the same period of 2016, according to the data of the National Institute of Statistics (INS).
The beverages and tobacco imports amounted to EUR 363 million, by EUR 25.7 million lower compared with January-February, registering a surplus of EUR 194.6 million on this segment.
Over 20,000 persons were working in the beverages production sector at the end of October, while the tobacco industry employed some 1,800 people. The average net salary is RON 2,309, respectively RON 3,809 in these industries.
