Ritli Ladislau appointed the new Health minister in Romanian cabinet

Ritli Ladislau was appointed Health minister today, after president Traian Basescu signed his appointment and with the resignation of Cseke Attila from the same position. The new minister, who was proposed by the Hungarian party UDMR, will also coordinate the activity of the national health insurance body CNAS. According to prime minister Emil Boc, putting CNAS under the Health ministry supervision will ensure a better coordination of policies between the two entities.

Ritli Ladislau was born in Oradea on June 8 1948 and graduated from the medical college in Timisoara in 1973 as a valedictorian. He served as director of the Stei hospital in between 1978 and 1986 and was afterwards deputy director of the children’s hospital in Oradea. From 1997 to 2009 he run the Bihor county public health division. He specialized in pediatrics, oncology and hematology, and is a professor at the Oradea medical college. Since 2010 he is the medical director of the Dr. Gavril Curteanu municipal hospital in Oradea.
